How to Clean-up Your Allergies with 2 Easy Home Tips

It’s that time of year again when people who have allergies complain about nasal congestion, coughing, and wheezing, itching, shortness of breath, headache, fatigue, hives and other skin rashes. Many people experience allergies due to pollens from outdoors combined with foods and indoor stagnant air carrying dust, mold, and other air pollutants.

So how can you stop this yearly cycle? What can you do at home to end this increased intrusion of allergy problems. Where can you go for relief if your allergies have gotten out of hand.

Would you like to:

o Enjoy parks and other outdoor public areas

o Have pets that you can live with

o Eat foods you have avoided

o Feel great without fatigue

o Sleep better than ever

o Relieve stress – often allergies increase stress to your system.

Keeping your body detoxing (self-cleaning) is one of two important steps you can do at home. A simple Yoga pose done correctly can keep your own personal cleaning crew (your immune system) in tune.

Sit on the floor as in the picture on your heels with feet 2 inches apart. Exhale as you slowly bend forward toward floor with your upper body. Try to have your forehead touch the floor in front of you. Place your arms on floor place with hands under your feet and index finger in the valley or web between the big toe and the 2nd toe. Breathe in deeply. Breathe in and out slowly for 1 minute. Your goal is to work up to 2 minutes. After each time relax on your back and allow your muscles to relax for a few minutes. This pose stimulates the body’s ability to cleanse itself. It helps detox the liver, lungs, stomach, spleen and bladder.

Secondly, how clean is your environment? Clients often come to me to treat their allergies however, if your home and office need a good seasonal cleaning allergy treatments only will work for a short time – even if your problem is food centered.

Many foods contain natural molds, for example bananas, grapes, and most other fruits. Or their own dust such as anything than can made into a ‘flour’ like wheat, corn, potatoes, and more. So keep your home and office as clean as possible. The accumulation of dust and mold in your office or home and on foods can actually “create” allergy intolerance. Here are a few tips:

Detox your home and office. Use Organic products found at the local health food market.

Dust using a damp cloth. Safe organic dusting products keep your environment toxin free

Use machine washable curtains and clean regularly. Natural laundry soap is best

Don’t store things under the bed. Dust or vacuum under beds weekly.

Do not allow stuffed animals in the bedroom – inside materials often contain sawdust.

Remove dust catchers like pennants, pictures, trophies, books, models and dried or silk flowers from bedroom

Use an air filter and clean filters regularly

Vacuum furniture and carpet regularly. Use a newer vacuum that doesn’t use bags and comes equipped with a self-cleaning air filter system so dust doesn’t go into the air.

Limit birds, animals or reptiles in the house.

Bath your household animals often. This means every 7 to 14 days.

If you have a pet allergy do not sleep with your pet. Provide them with their own bed right outside your bedroom door for both your comfort.

Don’t groom animals in the house.

The Wealth Connection – 2 Steps to Brighten Your Golden Years
Estimated Reading Time: 4 minutes

Envision your life 10 or even 20 years from now. Where do you plan to be? What are you doing and with whom?

Most of us between the age of 35 and 50 years hope to be retired to some degree in 15 to 20 years or less. We see ourselves living on retirement funds enjoying life and family. I have never had a client tell me they see themselves penniless or sick. Yet, these same clients fail to have a full plan.

They may have a retirement fund at work and other investments but how are these performing? Did you plan a financial foundation? What does your Wellness Investment program look like?

Many people tell me they don’t have a financial foundation program or Wellness Investment program in place. Regardless of age and health it is never too late to start planning. It is better than no plan at all. In this article I will give you 2 of the 21 most important Wealth Connection Steps I offer in my online course.

Ask yourself, how does wealth connect to your health? Does it at all? Today most people would agree that finances play a part in how we feel. Lacking funds can add stress to one’s life and play a major part in your health. Ill-health can rapidly eat away at savings if you do not have a wellness plan other than health insurance.

In fact, I advise you rethink health insurance. What I mean by this is that it is what it says it is. Health insurance is for ill-health issues. Only a few “health insurance” programs are wellness insurance.

Health insurance also dictates the kind of care you can receive. Wellness insurance on the other hand is still an emerging system. A few companies do offer these types of plans and we do not endorse any insurance company as my job is to educate you a bit and you must look at what is right for your specific needs.

The wellness insurance programs I have seen work like this. The self employed or business can purchase these programs. They have major medical benefits for hospital and sometimes prescription drugs. They also have a “fund” where part of your premium goes that earns interest. That’s right interest. You can use this money for any type of care you desire including alternative medicine of your choice. Any funds you don’t use in a given year stays in your personal account earning interest year after year. At a certain age you can take this money out and use it. I have seen accounts that reach 30k and more. Why buy health insurance you do not use?

Step One
Look into Wellness Insurance programs. Only purchase from a known insurance company. One whose name you have heard of in the past that offers regular polices as well. It is buyers beware market so do your research.

Step Two
What amount do you personally put into your saving account each week? Most people say I have it drawn from my paycheck. This is not what I mean. Think about how much you spend each day on simple things like coffee or food. Can you spare $5. 00 per week? I have only met one person who said they couldn’t even save this much. Six months later this person who didn’t become a client phoned me and said they had been doing it and it really worked. Here’s the plan short and sweet – I go into more detail in my online program. Contact my office for more details of how to receive a free 7-part on line e-course.

Each week whether you have your paycheck direct deposited or not; have as much as you can afford withdrawn from your account and placed in a savings plan at an investment firm like Charles Schwab. Use who you wish and make sure they have an automatic withdrawal program and that the funds go into a savings program.

Every quarter double the amount you are putting in. If you find you really aren’t missing this money from your daily life; double it every month. Don’t be surprised if you start looking forward to saving and adding more to how much you ‘put away’ each week.

Once this account is equal to 6 months income we move this money into a different type of account I go into future foundation steps in the online program. But we keep putting funds into the savings.

What happens is we have at the base a 6 to 9 month savings account earning a bit better than a bank savings account. Next level is a certain type of money market with the same amount of funds earning a slightly higher interest rate, and so on up through Our Wealth Mastery program.

Point in fact, recently “Today on MSN” offered a glance at the habit of millionaires. Simple foundational planning won hands down.

Bonus Tip
Invest in your wellness. Visit an alternative doctor like a NCCAOM licensed acupuncturist. This ensures you are seeing someone who has completed an accredited program at an Oriental Medical College. Many acupuncturists are licensed through medical doctor or chiropractic programs. These programs lack in training and number of hours to meet. Make sure your practitioner is an active member of The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Even if you love your doctor, choose a NCCAOM acupuncturist for this job – after all would you take your child to a gynecologist just because they deliver babies?

Or if you own a Porsche would you take it to a Honda dealership just because you also own a Honda. No, we take our loved ones and possessions to the experts. Do the same with your health.

Why do I suggest an acupuncturist? They are trained in wellness care and health care. Oriental Medicine practitioners know how to work with all types of illness and keep you well. Plan ahead even if you feel great get an evaluation now and follow a wellness program so that you continue to feel great into your golden years.

A wellness program may simply mean visiting your acupuncturist and massage therapist one time each month. Add up the dollars you save by not getting sick.
Invest this savings in your financial foundation.

Pubic Hair Removal – Tips When Shaving

In some cultures pubic hair removal has been performed for centuries for hygiene and other reasons. Now it is becoming widely accepted all over the world and both men and women are keen to find a pubic hair removal method which suits them.

Shaving is inexpensive and easily done at home although there are certain precautions that need to be met. Additionally, new personal shavers which have come on the market in recent years make pubic hair removal by shaving a much easier option. (See resource box at the end of this article)

Use these tips to perform pubic hair removal safely if shaving is your choice:

Never use the old-fashioned switch-blade razor. It is quite unsuitable for pubic hair removal and can be dangerous.
Choose a female razor, obtainable from Wilkinson Sword or other well known razor manufacturers, rather than an ordinary safety razor. The design makes it much more difficult to cut yourself.
Opt for a more expensive good quality razor rather than a cheap throw away which is more likely to cause nicks, soreness and razor burns in this sensitive area.
If the pubic hair is thick and long use small scissors to trim down the hair to about a quarter of an inch. This will avoid blunting and clogging the razor too quickly.
Before performing a pubic hair removal session, wet a large, washcloth and lay it over the entire pubic area for two or three minutes.
Alternatively, take a long hot bath or stay in the shower for a while making sure the pubic area receives a lot of water. Pubic hair is coarser than head hair and needs more time to soften when carrying out pubic hair removal.
Apply plenty of shaving foam or gel over the area and leave for a few minutes to soften further. Ordinary soap is not suitable as it does not lock in the moisture to the hair the way a shaving preparation cream or gel does.
Experiment with different brands if you find some cause skin irritation. They contain various chemicals and you need to find one that suits you.
Pull the skin straight with your free hand and shave without applying pressure.
Shave upwards against the direction of the hair growth.
Make sure there is shaving foam on the skin each time you make a stroke with the razor.
Shaving bare skin can cause razor burn and can be especially painful in pubic hair removal.
Rinse the razor every couple of strokes as it will clog easily.
Rinse off and see any areas that may have been missed and again apply gel to that area and shave.
To make pubic hair removal less stressful for the skin, massage unscented Vitamin E oil into the pubic area after shaving.
To stop or reduce itching after shaving rub an ice cube over the area.
Alternatively, rub a little baby oil into the pubic area.
If you suffer from itchiness or blood spots, let the hair grow back for a week before shaving again.
Keep the shaven area well moisturized between shaves by using a skin moisturizer or baby lotion. This will reduce the uncomfortable effect the stubble may cause between shaves.
Ingrown hair can be a problem when shaving and it can be particularly uncomfortable when it appears in the pubic area. For full information on how to eliminate and prevent ingrown hairs you may wish to check out the web site at ingrown-hair-solutions.com (see resource box below).

Having fully educated yourself on pubic hair removal methods and procedures you should be able to get good results from the method you choose.

Pubic shaving has been made so much easier with the introduction of specialized personal shavers. Details here:

Taking Time Off For Your Business

As a business owner, wouldn’t it be great if you could take time off whenever you needed to? Unfortunately, most small business owners worry that the business will fall apart if they’re not there to mind the store. Too often, they simply lack the appropriate resources for their business to keep going in their absence.

“Taking time off is as important as food, ” says Charles Tuttle, leader of a group of entrepreneurs in North Carolina. Don’t worry if this statement raises a red flag for you. Although taking time off can be especially challenging and downright impossible sometimes, it’s important to know that you can do something to make it happen. It takes deliberate work on your part and here are a few simple ideas to get you started.

Find a way to make work fun. If your work is stressful, build in laughter to ease the stress and tension. Take frequent breaks to stretch or breathe if you’re sitting all day. Fun makes the passing of the day more enjoyable. Try it and watch your fabulous day unfold!

Take leisure time in smaller chunks. Look at opportunities to journal, meditate or read between appointments and activities. It may seem pointless but it goes a long way in developing your time management skills while caring for your need to unplug. Tap into a little bit of spare time in your productivity process. It’s a great way to balance the scales in your favor!

Plan personal time on your calendar. Your calendar reflects your commitment to priorities or what’s important in your life. Typically, if you set aside the time on your calendar, you will observe it. Plan, then act to ensure you’re creating plenty of break time and doing something important in your life. You’ll have a greater sense of integrity and accomplishment at the same time.

Consider taking time off on a weekday. Who said you can only have fun on the weekends? Take time off in the middle of the week or even at the beginning! You’ll be surprised at how imaginative you’ll become while creating your fun time.

Identify unconventional ways to take time off. Time off may mean snuggling on the couch in your favorite bathrobe. It may also mean turning the ringer on the phone off, turning the TV and radio off or going to a park to feed the ducks. Your assignment (should you choose to accept it) is to get away from your business – whatever that means for you. Most entrepreneurs are in business because it offers freedom and flexibility so learn to capitalize on it!

Acknowledge yourself weekly for your accomplishments. What you do is hard work so pat yourself on the back for it! Select rewards that nurture and care for you like a facial, manicure, massage or other spa treatment. Treat yourself to a movie or read a good book. The more you acknowledge your progress, the more you’ll enjoy the journey!

Reward yourself for completed projects. You deserve a reward for completing the big projects in your business. Accordingly, let the reward match the milestone you reach when you complete a project. Plan a day trip, weekend getaway, or seven-day cruise. Whatever you enjoy, these are moments to treasure. Establish your reward at the beginning of the project so you’ll have an incentive to motivate to move you forward.

These are a few simple ideas to help you practice taking time off from your business. Remember, whether you’re just starting, squeezing a few moments out here and there or in full throttle, taking time off is good not only for you. It’s great for your business, too!

Ingrown Hair – Seven Causes & Eight Effects

Ingrown hair is a common problem for men and women. Use this list to easily identify the causes and effects of ingrown hair so you can make an educated decision on how to deal with this painful problem.

7 CAUSES

Skin suffering from lack of moisture
Stiff beard hair
Embedded oil in the hair follicles
Build up of dead skin cells in the pores and on the surface of the skin can cause ingrown hairs – some are more prone to this than others due to genetics
Coarse curly hair growing in a curved hair follicle
Improper shaving technique with a blade such as too close a shave
Hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, tweezing, electrolysis, often irritate the hair follicle. Dead cells can accumulate at the site of the irritation and form papule which can also contain pus while the skin heals. While this process continues any hair in the area can get trapped under the formation and is prevented from exiting the skin properly. Ingrown hair is the result.
8 EFFECTS
Constant tenderness
Trapped hairs cause inflammation which result in the body forming papule – a small, raised, abnormality on the skin commonly known as a bump giving rise to the term ‘razor bumps’
The body can also respond by producing a pustule – a blister on the skin containing pus
An infected pustule can become ruptured resulting in bleeding
Itching
Tingling
Pain – mild or severe
Hard, prominent, irregular scar tissue in the skin in chronic cases
Additional Advice: If you carry out skin exfoliation regularly with a loofah or mesh sponge after waxing or shaving, you’ll take off the thin layer of skin that’s trapping the hairs and set them free.
Wet the loofah and squeeze to soften if preferred, then gently massage the skin, especially dry, rough areas.

Do not use the loofah on broken skin. Some beauty advisors believe using a loofah once a week for skin exfoliation is enough to keep the area exfoliated. Exfoliating too much will dry the skin and leave it sensitive and susceptible to ingrown hair.

Benefits of Therapeutic and Well-Being Canine Massage

People who have treated themselves to a massage, will attest to the mental, emotional and physical benefits they have experienced and enjoyed, from even one massage. The same holds true for your dog!

Therapeutic and relaxation/well-being massages for dogs, has been shown to restore and maintain a dog’s health, help with behavioral problems such as trust of humans, as well as detecting early signs of disease and illness.

Therapeutic and well-being massage benefits include: relieving chronic pain from injury or aging, strengthening immune system, improving post operative healing, promoting circulation and oxygenation of blood, improving posture and conformation, strengthens flexibility and range of motion for improved agility.

Having your dog massaged also reduces stress, improves muscle tone from atrophy, overweight, injury, and inactivity, increases energy, reduces risks for injuries, relieves stiffness, pain, and soreness from sports activities, arthritis and hip dysplasia.

Canine massage has also been found to reduce certain behavioral problems such as hyperactivity, fear of being touched, anxiety from emotional and physical trauma, and lack of socialization skills.

Dog owners have found having their dog massaged, improves skin and coat, improves their dog’s ability to focus, improves their dog’s endurance for agility, conformation or rally competitions, and it expedites removal of toxins and wastes.

Not-to-mention, it feels darn good!

If your vet says it’s OK… do your dog a huge favor and schedule a massage. See for yourself, the difference it makes.

Massage Therapy – Stress Management For Students

Below are some tips on how to cope and facilitate in an effective stress management method.

Effects of Stress in a Student

Stress is a natural response of the body when demand is placed upon you, which is often the case at school as students had to undergo tests and other stressful academic situations. This has been proven by studies and the more stress a student undergoes, the bigger its impact to one’s physical and emotional health condition. Being a student entails a lot of things and it is not solely about the academic commitments expected of an individual. There are also social pressures involved with being a student that further adds pressure to the situation.

Students are therefore encouraged to take proactive stress management approaches to ensuring that you can maintain overall wellness. It is not just all about eliminating stress in your life, but also helps to improve your academic performance as a student. There are several recommended stress management techniques that a student can use but massage therapy is often on top of that list.

Why Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is known as one of the most effective stress busters there is. But what is it about massaging that make it a very effective method to relieve stress? It starts off by relieving tension off of your body. As soon as you can release physical tension, you can consequently experience relief in the mind. Massage therapy is therefore useful for students due to its ability to provide physical and mental relief for a comprehensive approach in fighting stress.

Costs of Massage Therapy

When thinking off stress management techniques that students can use, the cost is an important factor to consider. If you are going to hire a professional masseur to perform your massage therapy, it is important to know how much it will cost and if it will fit into your budget. This very concern has resulted in a number of wellness and massage therapy programs available for students who wanted to enjoy relief from stress. You can also schedule your massage therapy sessions such that you can maximize its results without costing you a lot.

Different Types of Massages

According to the National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine, there are several massage techniques that one can use as part of stress management regimen. The three most popular techniques are as follows:

• Swedish massage – This technique involves the use of long strokes and kneading to provide maximum relief from muscle tension and stress.

• Deep-tissue massage – This is another reliable massage technique that can effectively deliver stress reduction and relaxation results.

• Trigger point massage – This massage technique that works in “knots” to eliminate tension that has build up in your body.

How Lemons May Help to Fight Cancer – How a Little Bit of Chemistry Goes a Long Way

Recent studies have emerged showing that some elements in lemons can help to alleviate the effects of cancer and the side effects of medical treatment for cancer. They can also help in the prevention of cancer and possibly, the movement or growth of cancer cells.

Whether it is taken in the form of lemon juice, as a lemon essential oil or as the lemon itself to flavor another type of food or drink, one can access the cancer prevention and treatment qualities of the wonderful fruit that is lemon.

Here is a list of some ways that lemon can help a person who is afflicted with cancer:

1. Lemons have phytochemicals. The limonene that is found in the rind of lemons is a powerful phytochemical. Take note: Phytochemicals are not nutrients. They are plant chemicals which the lemon plant produces as a means of self protection. One could equate it in this way with the body’s immune system.

New research shows that phytochemicals can also help to protect humans against disease, too. The anticancer qualities of limonene work by increasing the amount of enzymes in our bodies that detoxify carcinogens. We refer here to Glutathione S-transferase, or GST, in particular. Limonene promotes the levels of GST in our small bowel and liver. With more GST in our bodies, more carcinogens are destroyed.

There have also been studies conducted with animals which show that limonene helps to reduce the growth of mammary tumors. This has enhanced hopes about the possibility of limonene in lemon rinds helping in the treatment of breast cancer in humans. The terpenes in lemons can stimulate enzymes that render estrogen less effective, and it is thought that in this way, it can perhaps reduce the risk for breast cancer in humans.

Limonene also functions by inhibiting the effects of free radicals which may sometimes lead to cancer. Because limonene works as an antioxidant, the free radicals are destroyed.

To get the most out of your lemon, don’t throw the peel away. Just wash the rind very well, then zest it (don’t include the bitter white pith). Add this to baked foods, hot tea, yogurt and soups and you can take advantage of the full health and cancer prevention benefits of limonene.

2. Lemons bring out anticancer ingredients in green tea. We refer in particular to the catechins of green tea. Catechins are unique antioxidants that help to reduce the risk of cancer by inhibiting cancer cell activity and strengthening one’s immunity. Unfortunately, after digestion only 20 percent of total catechins from green tea remain in the body. This is because catechins are volatile and are unstable in non-acidic settings such as the intestines.

However a Purdue University study showed that citrus juice (like lemon juice) can increase catechin levels in our bodies to more than five times, and lemon juice had the best results of all citrus fruit causing up to 80 percent of the green tea’s catechins to remain.

When tea is taken with lemon juice, the catechins interact and the lemon’s stabilizing power permits the greatest percentage of ability to withstand the degradation brought about in the intestines.

Lemon essential oil when used with aromatherapy is an acceptable form of supportive care, the National Cancer Institute says. Supportive care is defined as care that is rendered to enhance the quality of life of cancer patients. The goal in supportive care is not to cure, but to prevent the symptoms of cancer, or to treat the symptoms when they occur. Supportive care with lemon essential oils in aromatherapy can also be used to treat the side effects that are brought about with medical treatment for cancer. Some of these side effects may be social, spiritual or psychological in nature. The anxiety and stress for example that a cancer patient may feel could be reduced with an aromatherapy massage using lemon essential oils. In a nutshell, supportive care has more to do with symptom management and comfort care than with cure.

Lemon essential oil is very concentrated. It is produced in special cells in the lemon plant that are usually found under the leaves of the plant or in its peel. It should be either distilled with steam or water; or pressed. If chemicals are used in its making, it cannot be considered an essential oil.

How does lemon essential oil aromatherapy work? There are several theories, but the most adhered to belief is that the smell receptors in our nose react to the aroma of the lemon essential oil and conveys a message through the nerve endings to our brain’s limbic system. This is the part of our brain which is the center of our emotions and feelings. Imaging studies have backed the effects of smell on the limbic system.

Aromatherapy is administered in many ways, including through inhalation either indirectly by using a room diffuser or directly with the use of an individual inhaler; or through an aromatherapy massage. It is not advisable to take lemon essential oil orally.

A massage with lemon essential oil has the added benefits of helping a person to relax, relieve pain and stress, improve circulation and lower blood pressure. Studies are also being made to see how it can help other cancer symptoms such as experiencing a lack of energy, swelling and depression.

Studies have shown the benefits of aromatherapy in cancer patients and many have said aromatherapy treatment with lemon and other essential oils improved their sense of wellbeing, the National Cancer Institute said.

Aromatherapy is not regulated by law in the United States. However there are two organizations that have national educational standards for aromatherapists. These are The Alliance of International Aromatherapists and the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.

There used to be a time when anything that was substandard was called a ‘lemon. ‘ There was also the saying, “when life hands you a lemon, make lemonade, ” which was another way of saying, make the most of anything you get that is below par. But today we know that lemons are among nature’s most precious gifts to us.

When life hands us a lemon, we should use every single part of it.

Natural Treatment For Baldness – Herbs That Stop Hair Loss

Hair loss is a condition that no one is immune from. In fact, most women and men will notice that their strands are thinning significantly at some point. This most often occurs during middle age. However, some people will start losing strands excessively while they are still in their twenties. The thought of using medications for life in order to keep their strands from falling out is not appealing to many people. Fortunately, many herbs can effectively be used as a natural treatment for baldness.

Aloe Vera Stimulates Hair Growth
Aloe vera is a good natural treatment for baldness because it helps maintain a healthy flow of blood to the scalp. This is an important function since the blood carries nutrients and minerals to the roots so the strands can receive the nourishment they need in order to grow. It also has anti-bacterial properties which can clear out dirt and bacteria, which can clog the follicles and prevent the nutrients from reaching the roots.

Burdock Prevents Hair Loss
Burdock helps prevent hair loss because it allows the body to eliminate toxins which can be harmful to the strands and cause excessive shedding. Also, this herb contains oils which are loaded with essential fatty acids. Essential fats prevent inflammation in the scalp, which is linked to hair loss.

Horsetail is an Effective Treatment for Baldness
Horsetail is a natural treatment for baldness which keeps the follicles healthy and stimulates hair growth. It is available as a supplement. Horsetail oil is also available. Apply the oil directly to the scalp and massage it in to increase circulation.

Chamomile Moisturizes the Hair
